Anhelina Kalinina knocked out Caroline Wozniacki in the second round of the WTA 500 Charleston Open

Anhelina Kalinina (Ukraine) eliminated the former world’s number one Caroline Wozniacki (Denmark) in the second round of the WTA 500 Charleston Open after 2-0 (6:2, 6:3) in 1:22 hours.

The Ukrainian tennis player broke twice in the first set and three times in the second set to secure the convincing victory and qualify for the third round of the tournament, where will face the 4th-seeded Daria Kasatkina (Russia), who defeated Ashlyn Krueger (USA) by 2-1 (6:3, 0:6, 6:1).

The Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka also advanced to the third round by eliminating Elisabetta Cocciaretto (Italy) after 2-0 (6:1, 6:2) and will face Taylor Townsend (USA), who eliminated Ekaterina Alexandrova (Russia) by 2-0 (7:5, 6:2).

The American tennis player Emma Navarro defeated her compatriot Katie Volynets by 2-0 (6:1, 6:1), while the 9th-seeded Veronika Kudermetova (Russia) eliminated Shelby Rogers (USA) after 2-0 (7:6, 6:4) and the 5th-seeded Beatriz Haddad Maia (Brazil) won her match versus Caroline Dolehide (USA) by 2-0 (6:2, 7:5).

The Australian tennis player Astra Sharma brought the big surprise of the day, eliminating the 16th-seeded Lesia Tsurenko (Ukraine) after 2-0 (6:4, 6:0).
