Brazil achieved 5th win at the Women’s Volleyball World Cup

The runner-up from the Women’s League of Nations Brazil achieved their 5th win at the World Cup, which is being held in Poland and the Netherlands.

The Jose Roberto Lages Guimaraes-led team beat the European champions Italy by 3-2 (25:20, 22:25, 22:25, 25:21, 17:15) in a Group E match played in Rotterdam.

Brazil has 14 points (5 wins, 1 loss), while Italy has 16 points (5 wins, 1 loss).

The next match for the South American team is on October 6 (Thursday) against Puerto Rico. The Italian women play against Japan on the same day.

The top scorer for Brazil was Gabriela Guimaraes with 30 points, while Ana Carolina da Silva finished with 14 points (7 blocks). For the opponent, Paola Egonu was above all with 37 points (1 ace, 3 blocks), while Anna Danesi finished with 13 points (1 ace, 5 blocks).
