Canada advanced to the semifinals of the women’s ice hockey tournament in Beijing 2022 after beating Sweden by 11-0. In their next match, the four-time Olympic champions will face Switzerland, who won the match versus Russian Olympic Committee by 4-2.

In the other semifinal, the reigning Olympic champion the USA will face Finland, who defeated Japan by 7-1.

The strikers Brianne Jenner and Sarah Fillier scored three goals each for Canada, and Erin Ambrose, Emily Clark, Blayre Turnbull, Natalie Spooner, and Jamie Lee Rattray added one goal each for the final success. Emerance Maschmeyer saved 11 shots for Canada, and Ida Boman and Emma Sederberg stopped 45 for Sweden.

Canada was dominating the women’s ice hockey tournament of the Olympics, having four consecutive titles at Salt Lake 2002, Torino 2006, Vancouver 2010, and Sochi 2014. Only on the last Olympics in PyeongChang 2018, the team of United States brought the surprise winning the title, winning the final versus Canada with 3-2.
