Ashleigh Buhai won the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open golf tournament

Ashleigh Buhai won the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open golf tournament with a prize fund of 1.7 million AUD. The South African golfer finished 12-under par winning by one shot, making her a double national champion in 2022.

When she poured the par into the final hole at Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne, Ashleigh Buhai became the first player since Yani Tseng in 2011 to win both the AIG Women’s Open and the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open in the same year. This was also her first multiple win season outside of her native South Africa.

“That’s what got the job done at the British this year. That’s all I tried to focus on the whole day. But the wind was tricky today”, said Ashleigh Buhai after the victory.

The South Korean Jiyai Shin was second with an 11-under par, while Australian Hannah Green was third, just 2 shots behind the winner.

Ashleigh Ann Buhai is a South African professional golfer, who won the 2022 Women’s Open, one of the major championships in women’s golf. She turned professional the day after her 18th birthday.
