Serbian athlete Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta

Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta is a Serbian long jumper athlete and reigning World Indoor and Outdoor champion, as well as three times European indoor champion and five-time Diamond League Trophy Winner. She is also the bronze medalist from Rio 2016 Olympics. Her personal best outdoor result in the long jump is 7.10 m, achieved at Beograd, Serbia, on September 11, 2016, while her best indoor result in the long jump is 7.24 m, achieved at Kombank Arena, Beograd, on March 5, 2017. Both results are the national records of the country. Moreover, she is the national indoor record holder in the 60 meters and in the pentathlon.

Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta was born on May 10, 1990, in Zrenjanin, SR Serbia, SFR Yugoslavia. She started in athletics from an early age and quickly showed her talent. After winning the gold medals at the 2008 World Junior Championships and the 2009 Summer Universiade, she was selected as Serbia’s Best Young Athlete of 2008.

Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta participated in the qualifying round at the 2008 Olympic Games and was a finalist at the 2012 Olympic Games. Her big success at the Olympics came in Rio 2016, where she won the bronze medal. Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta qualified and participated also in Tokyo 2020 Olympics, finishing fourth.

In 2013, Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta became the first Serbian track and field athlete to win a medal at the IAAF Outdoor World Championships. In 2018, she became the first Serbian track and field athlete to win a world senior gold medal at the IAAF Indoor World Championships.

Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta is the reigning world indoor champion, winning the title at the 2018 Birmingham IAAF World Indoor Championships. This year, she will defend her title at Belgrade IAAF World Indoor Championships. She also has a silver medal from the 2016 Portland IAAF World Indoor Championships, as well as a bronze medal from the 2014 Sopot IAAF World Indoor Championships.

Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta is also a three-time gold medalist from the European Indoor Championships at 2015 Prague, 2017 Belgrade, and 2019 Glasgow. Also, she won the gold medal at the 2016 European Outdoor Championships in Amsterdam and the silver medal from 2014 Zurich.

Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta has plenty of awards, including winning the Diamond League in 2016, 2017, and 2021, as well as winning the Mediterranean Games in 2018 Tarragona.

In 2022, Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta won the long jump gold at the Munich European Athletics Championships, Beograd World Athletics Indoor Championships, as well as the Diamond League’s final Weltklasse. She competed also at the Eugene World Athletics Championships, but finished 7th in the final. During the season she won the gold at the Craiova Balkan Championships and Serbian Indoor Championships.

In 2023, Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta was crowned as the queen of long jump after winning the title at the World Atheltics Championships in Budapest. She jumped 7.14m in the final to win the gold medal, which she missed during her successful career. During the season she also won the bronze at the Istanbul European Athletics Indoor Championships. She earned the gold at the Karlsruhe Init Indoor Meeting, Meeting Sport e Solidarieta Lignano, as well as the bronze at the Diamond League’s Herculis EBS.

Ivana Spanovic-Vuleta is one of the most impressive long jumper athletes nowadays. Definitely, she will be the favorite for the next competitions.
