Victoria Carl achieved the career first victory at the Nordic World Cup

The German cross-country skier Victoria Carl won decisively in the women’s 10km classic, a round of the Nordic World Cup. It’s a first career World Cup victory, leaving Rosie Brennan (USA), who finished second today, far behind by almost 20 sec. The time of the 27-year-old German is 28:13.6 min, while Rosie Brennan remained at 19.6 sec behind. The third place today goes to the leader in the ranking for the small Crystal Globe Ebba Andersson (Sweden), who finished on 21.6 sec behind. Immediately after the top three is the leader for the World Cup, Jessie Diggins (USA) with a time of 28:41.9 min or a passive of 28.3 sec.

Although an Olympic gold medalist, Victoria Carl looked in complete disbelief as she sat in the winner’s chair in the final and watched the results monitor. When American Jessie Diggins crossed the finish line in fourth place, the last person to break Victoria Carl’s time, the German literally threw herself into the arms of her teammate Coletta Rydzek.

Pia Fink and Coletta Rydzek completed the excellent performance of the German team with 7th and 16th place respectively.

The German had a strong start and from the very beginning until the 2.5km mark, she pulled 9 sec ahead of Ebba Andersson. The Swede at one point got as close as 6.8 sec, while the others were further behind. However, Ebba Andersson was unable to maintain the pace and allowed herself to be overtaken by Rosie Brennan.

There are no changes in the top 3 of the World Cup standings. Jessie Diggins leads with 809 points, ahead of Emma Ribom (Sweden) with 737 and Rosie Brennan (USA) with 726. Ebba Andersson, who is 4th overall, leads the event standings with 588 points.
