Mackenzie Dern lost her UFC 295 Women Strawweight fight to Jessica Andrade via TKO in the second round after unloaded a barrage of punches.
Jessica Andrade she came out swinging and ended up with multiple knockdowns while exchanging strikes with Mackenzie Dern on the feet. She repeatedly forced her opponent to get up, until placing a serious bunch of punches that knocked out Mackenzie Dern in the 3:15 minute of the second round.
Mackenzie Dern is one of the most accomplished women in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but failed to take down her opponent in all her four attempts. She lost totally the upper fight after her opponent made 53 significant strikes and 4 knockdowns.
Mackenzie Dern is yet to develop the offensive wrestling or striking, which is required to best the upper end of the division.
“This was a strategy”, said Jessica Andrade after the match. “Only God knows what I went through this year with my divorce. I was hungry this year. The strategy actually worked tonight. I know how tough she is on the ground. I knew she was going to stay alive. I was really poised, I was calm and the strategy worked”, added she.
Mackenzie Dern has a personal MMA record of 13-4 (W-L), while her opponent Jessica Andrade has a personal record of 25-12 (W-L).
