Femke Bol won the third gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Munich (Germany) after bringing the Netherlands to the first title in the 4x400m relay for women.
On the rainy but exciting Saturday evening, which started with an arc over the Olympic stadium, the champion in running 400m and 400m hurdles Femke Bol was in the last post to bring the success of the team with 3:20.87 min with Eveline Saalberg, Lieke Klaver and Lisanne De Witte.
Poland took the silver medal with 3:21.68, and the UK won the bronze medal with 3:21.74 minutes.
“It was an amazing race. I really love to run with these girls”, said Femke Bol. “They’re such fantastic athletes and amazing team-mates. It was such an amazing race. These championships feel special to me”, added she.
Femke Bol imitates her iconic compatriot Fanny Blankers-Koen, who won the 100m, 200m, 80m runs at the 1948 Olympics and 4x100m, and at Euro 1950 triumphed at 100m, 200m and 80m hurdles.
