Likina Amebaw is an Ethiopian athlete, who competed in long distances, road running, and cross country. Her personal best in the half marathon is 1:09:01 hours, on 10km road is 29:56 min, on 5km road is 14:35 min, on 10,000m is 32:33.59 min and on 5,000m is 15:37.42 min.
Likina Amebaw was born on November 30, 1997. She started in athletics as a kid, mostly in running and half marathon, but developed her career in athletics only after moving to Spain
Likina Amebaw made her competitive debut in 2016, competing at the Helong Half Marathon, finishing in 11th position in 1:18:38 hours. In 2018, she already moved to train and live in Spain and competed in the marathon at the Maraton de Alcala de Henares to earn her first honor, winning the bronze with 2:58:47 hours.
In 2019, Likina Amebaw earned her first gold at the Gijon Half Marathon and later during the season triumphed with the gold at the Bilbao Night Half Marathon & 10-K. Meanwhile, she earned the bronze at the Klagenfurt Half Marathon in Austria. Thus, she improved her half marathon time to 1:11:30 hours. At the end of the season, she competed at the prestigious half marathon race Medio Maraton Valencia Trinidad Alfonso EDP, finishing 21st.
In 2020, Likina Amebaw competed at the Spanish Half Marathon Championships and 10km road Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana, but unfortunately did not earn the honor. She finished 7th in the one-hour promotional event AG Memorial Van Damme in Bruxelles and earned the one-mile gold at the Milla Valladolid Gran Premio Dulcesol and 10km gold at the Castellon 10 km, as well as the bronze at the Santa Pola International Half Marathon.
Likina Amebaw settled as one of the top runners in 2021. She won the 3000m gold at the Castellon Spanish Club Championships, the 5000m silver at the Meeting de Braga, and the 10km road gold at the Heineken 0.0 Karlovački cener 10K. However, her biggest achievements were in cross country, winning the silver at the Cross Internacional de Soria and Cross Internacional de Venta de Banos, as well as the bronze at the Cross Internacional de La Constitucion Alcobendas.
In 2022, Likina Amebaw continued competing in the Cross Country Golden Label’s events, winning the silver at the 45 Cross das Amendoeiras em Flor and the bronze at the LI Gran Premio Caceres Campo a Traves. Meanwhile, during the season she earned the 3000m gold at the Campeonato Espana Clubes and 10km road silver at the Ibiza 10k Playa d’en Bossa.
Likina Amebaw won her first Cross Country Golden Label’s gold winning the Albufeira Cross das Amendoeiras em Flor and by the end of the season triumphed with the gold also at the Amorebieta-Etxano 69º Cross Internacional Zornotza, Cross Internacional de Soria, and Cross Internacional de la Constitucion Alcobendas – Memorial Antonio Rodriguez Benavente, but also won the silver at the Cardiff Cross Challenge. In the half marathon event, she won the silver at the Padova Half Marathon and the bronze at the 2023 Poznan Half Marathon, while in the 10km road, she won the bronze at the Nationale Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana.
Likina Amebaw started the 2024 season by winning the cross-country gold at the LIII Gran Premio Cáceres Diputación de Cáceres, before triumphing in the Cross Country Golden Label’s 47.º Cross Internacional das Amendoeiras em Flor – ECCC XC. In the 10km road race, she won the gold at the Marathon de Paris and the silver at the 10K Ibiza – Platja d’en Bossa, while in the 5km road race won the gold at the MONACO RUN 5 km. Likina Amebaw competed at the Mondeville Meeting in 3000m and earned the bronze with 9:10.05 min.
