Seven-time Grand Slam women’s doubles champions Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova part ways

Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova

Tokyo 2020 Olympic champions and seven-time Grand Slam women’s doubles champions Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova (Czech Republic) will no longer play together. Katerina Siniakova announced this and admitted that the decision was on her initiative, as she wanted a change.

“We have come to an agreement to separate, but we are not ruling out the possibility of coming back as a duo in the future. I have no doubt that the break will be beneficial and we will be able to come back even stronger”, said Katerina Siniakova.

At the same time, Barbora Krejcikova admitted that this news was unexpected for her, but she supported her partner’s decision.

The two Czech tennis players have won 16 tournaments together, including seven Grand Slam titles, the 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medal and the 2021 WTA Finals title. They were also leaders in the world doubles ranking.

Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova, who this year became champions of the Australian Open, a few days ago lost the decisive match of the semi-finals of the Billie Jean King Cup against the Canadian team, which yesterday triumphed with the title in the team competition.
