Jana Fett is a Croatian tennis player, who has won nine singles and five doubles titles on the ITF Women’s Circuit. She reached her best singles ranking of world’s No 97 on May 21, 2018.
Jana Fett was born on November 2, 1996, in Zagreb, Croatia. he started in tennis as a child and showed her talent at local junior competitions, before reaching the Adriatic Cup semi-finals in 2007. In 2010, she won the title at the Junior Croatia Open, while in 2013 was the runner-up at the J1 Berlin \ Allianz Kundler German Juniors supported by Optimal Systems. On the ITF Junior Circuit, she had a career-high ranking of No 12 and was the runner-up at the 2014 Australian Open girls’ singles event.
Jana Fett made her professional debut in 2013, playing at the $10,000 Antalya (Turkey). Although losing in the first round, she showed great talent and lack of experience. During the season she played also at the $15,000 Bol (Croatia), reaching the second round, and $10,000 Dubrovnik (Croatia), reaching the quarter-finals.
In 2014, Jana Fett started the season strongly by reaching the Junior Australian Open final but lost to Elizaveta Kulichkova (Russia). During the next months, she played at the ITF Circuit at $25,000 Kreuzlingen (Switzerland), $10,000 W15 Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt), $15,000 Bol (Croatia), but hardly overcame the first round. However, in the summer she won her first ITF title, triumphing at the $10,000 Ostrava (Czech Republic) and later reached the final at the $15,000 Bol (Croatia) and the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25 Istanbul (Turkey). She ended the season with another title, triumphing at the $10,000 Istanbul (Turkey).
Jana Fett continued gaining experience in the ITF Circuit in 2015, starting at the $50,000 W75 Burnie (Australia) and $50,000 W60 Launceston (Australia), where she reached the second rounds. In March, she reached the semi-finals of the $15,000 Oslo (Norway), while in April won her third title at the $15,000 Dijon (France). By the end of the season, the young Croatian tennis player won two more titles at the $15,000 Loughborough (UK) and $75,000+H Toyota (Japan).
Jana Fett missed most of the 2016 season and appeared on the court only in October. Although not playing for a long time, she did not lose form and reached the semi-finals of the $60,000 Canberra (Australia) and the quarter-finals of the $100,000 W100 Tokyo (Japan) and $60,000+H Toyota (Japan).
Jana Fett made her WTA Tour main draw debut in 2017, playing at the WTA 250 Hobart International, where reached the semi-finals. She continues the season at the ITF Circuit, reaching the quarter-finals of the $100,000 Anning (China) and $100,000 Cagnes-Sur-Mer (France), as well as the semi-finals at the $100,000 W100 Vancouver (Canada). In September, she played at the WTA 125 Dalian Women’s Tennis Open, reaching the second round, but the next week played at the WTA 250 Japan Women’s Open Tennis reaching the semi-finals. During the season, she entered the world’s Top 100 for the first time but ended as the world’s No 102.
In 2018, Jana Fett made her debut at the Grand Slam tournament main draw, reaching the second round of the Australian Open. She reached the second round of the WTA 250 Abierto GNP Seguros and the quarter-finals of the WTA 250 Grand Prix Sar La Princesse Lalla Meryem, but by the end of the season did not overcome the first round in any of the tournaments. she played, except at the $100,000 W100 Surbiton (UK), where she reached the second round.
In 2019, Jana Fett returned to play mostly in the IF Circuit again. She reached the second round of the $25,000 W25 Glasgow (Great Britain) and $25,000 W25+H Calvi (France), as well as the semi-finals of the $60,000 W75+H Saint-Gaudens (France) and $25,000 W35 Roehampton (Great Britain), before playing the final at the $25,000 W35 Solarino (Italy).
Jana Fett started the 2020 season with $25,000 W25 Hong Kong (Hong Kong), reaching the quarter-finals, and continued by playing the semi-finals at $25,000 W25 Trnava (Slovakia) and quarter-finals at the $25,000 W25 Glasgow (Great Britain) and $25,000 W35 Sunderland (Great Britain). By the end of the season, she played in the main draw of the WTA 125 Prague Open and reached the second round of the WTA 250 Upper Austria Ladies Linz.
In 2021, Jana Fett continue playing in both the ITF Circuit and the WTA Tour. She started the season by reaching the semi-finals of the $25,000 W25 Poitiers (France) and the quarter-finals at the $25,000 W25 Manacor (Spain), $60,000 W60 Bellinzona (Switzerland), and $60,000 W75 Zagreb (Croatia). In September, she reached the second round of the WTA 250 BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open, while in December she played in the quarter-finals of the WTA 125 Open P2i Angers Arena Loire.
In 2022, Jana Fett won her sixth ITF title at the $25,000 W25 Trnava (Slovakia) and also was the runner-up at the $25,000 W35 Nottingham (Great Britain). Meanwhile, she reached the quarter-finals at the $25,000 W25 Saint Etienne (France) and the second round of the WTA 125 Open BLS De Limoges.
Jana Fett won another ITF title in 2023 at the $25,000 W25 Vigo (Spain), but also was the runner-up at the $60,000 W60 Toronto (Canada) and reached the semi-finals at the $25,000 W25 Jakarta (Indonesia) and WTA 125 Open delle Puglie. Her biggest success during the season, however, was playing in the final at the Challenger Tour’s WTA 125 Dow Tennis Classic.
Jana Fett started the 2024 season strongly by reaching the quarter-finals at the $40,000 W50 Porto (Portugal) and the semi-finals at the $60,000 W75 Trnava (Slovakia), before winning two more titles at the $60,000 W75 Split (Croatia) and $100,000 W100 Oeiras (Portugal). She made her debut at the French Open / Roland Garros, reaching the second round.
