The volleyball players of Italy recorded their third consecutive victory at the Olympic tournament in Tokyo. Squadra Azzurri defeated Argentina by 3-0 (25:21, 25:16, 25:15) in a match of the 3rd round in the preliminary Group B.
Paola Egonu played another strong match for Italy and scored 17 points (1 ace, 2 blocks). Caterina Bosetti added 10 more points Elena Pietrini scored 9 points.
Paula Yamila Nizetich was the top scorer for Argentina with 8 points, and Erika Mercado added 7 more.
Thus, Italy took the lead in Group B with 9 points (3 wins), and Argentina is in the last 6th place without a single point.
In the next 4th round, Italy will play against the Rio 2016 Olympic champions from China, and Argentina will play against Turkey.
