World 800m champion Mary Moraa (Kenya) achieved her best ever 600m result. At the ISTAF tournament in Berlin yesterday, the Kenyan won the race with 1:21.63 min. In front of more than 40,000 spectaculars, the Olympic bronze medalist took 14 hundredths off the previous best in the event, held by Caster Semenya at the same tournament in 2017.
“I feel so good and so happy. To achieve this record in my first attempt is amazing. I’m so happy with the way I ran”, said Mary Moraa after the race.
The Olympic finalist Shafiqua Maloney was runner-up in 1:22.98, the sixth fastest time in history.
Meanwhile, Gina Luckenkemper delighted the German fans by winning the women’s 100m in 10.93 sec, whereas another local favourite.
