Arsenal WFC defeated Manchester City WFC by 2-1 at the England Women’s Super League

Arsenal WFC defeated Manchester City WFC by 2-1 in a match from the fifth round of the England Women’s Super League. The hosts of Arsenal WFC struggled the win with a late goal in the last minutes of the match and definitely their opponents had more goal attempts, but were quite inaccurate in the final shots.

Stephanie Catley gave an advance for the hosts of Arsenal WFC in the 14th minute after an assistance of Caitlin Foord. Just six minutes later Kim Little missed a penalty for the hosts and failed to increase the lead in their favor. In the 72th minute Chloe Kelly equalized for Manchester City WFC after an assistance by Khadija Shaw, but Stina Blackstenius brought the win to Arsenal WFC in the 87th minute.

Thus, Arsenal WFC recorded their third win in the England Women’s Super League, while Manchester City WFC suffered a first loss this season.

In another match from the round, Brighton & Hove Albion WFC and Manchester United WFC made a 2-2 draw with the added time equalizer by Rachel Williams for the visitors from Manchester. Elisabeth Terland (30′) and Guro Bergsvand (89′) gave advance for Brighton & Hove Albion WFC twice in the match, but Ella Ann Toone (78′) and Rachel Williams equalized (90+8′).

Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur Women and Everton WFC made a 1-1 draw and Liverpool Women defeated Leicester City WFC by 2-1 (0-0), while West Ham United Women lost to Bristol City WFC by 2-3 (2-2).

On Saturday, Chelsea Women smashed the hosts of Aston Villa Women by 6-0 with the goals of Millie Bright (21′), Francesca Kirby (26′), Johanna Rytting Kaneryd (56′), Ashley Lawrence (63′), Agnes Beever-Jones (67′), and Niamh Charles (73′).
